Oil Painting for Beginners: evening studio course at the Essential School of Painting
I’m delighted to be teaching another term of the Oil Painting for Beginners evening course at the Essential School of Painting this summer.
Join me on Wednesday evenings from 6-9pm, 24 April - 19 June 2024 for this exciting, accessible studio-based course.
You will learn step-by-step approaches to oil painting over nine sessions, designed to be suitable for beginners and those looking to refresh their fundamental technical knowledge.
We will explore:
Materials and methods of oil painting, such as supports and surfaces, brushes and paint mediums;
Colour mixing and ways of constructing images through contrasting tonal values, blocks of colour, line and texture; and
Putting this knowledge into practice by painting simple still life set-ups, with emphasis on the tactile handling of the paint.
